PRIMAL VIBRATION

In ancient times sound itself, the very basis of all music, was thought to be intimately related in some way to non-physical or sacred dimensions or planes of existence. Why was this? Because audible sound was considered to be but an earthly reflection of a vibratory activity taking place beyond the physical world. This vibration was more fundamental„ and nearer to the heart of the meaning of things, than any audible sound. Inaudible to the human ear, this Cosmic Vibration was the origin and basis of all the matter and energy in the universe.

In it’s purest and most indifferential form, it was known to the Hindus as OM. Yet, just as pure white light differentiates into the colours of the rainbow, so this Primal Vibration was believed to differentiate into a number of more greatly defined superphysical vibrations. These different frequencies or Cosmic Tones were thought to be present in varying combinations throughout the universe. Not only were they present within all substances and forms, in different vibratory combinations, but they were the substances and forms. According to the combination of Cosmic Tones present within any given area or space, so was the nature of the substance within that space determined.

And thus we find ourselves throwing light upon the widely-held belief that all matteris composed of one basic substance or energy. According to the great thinker of old, this energy was vibration. In modern times, the physical sciencesare now arricing back at this original point of departure. Once again, science is beginning to suspect that matter is all composed of one fundamental something, and that the frequencies or rhythms of this something determine the specific nature of each object or atom

The universal vibratory energies were called by the ancient Egyptians the Word or Words of their gods; to Pythagoreans of Greece they were the Music of the Spheres; and to the ancient Chineseknew them to be celestial energies of perfect harmony. The Cosmic Tones, as differentiations of the OM, were the most powerful force in the universe, according to the ancient, for these tones were the universe - the very source of creation itself.

And herein lay the vast significance of all audible, earthly sound, such as are produced by the performing of music and the uttering of speech .For audible sound was believed to be a ‘reflection’ , within the world of matter, of the Cosmic Tones. Audible sound itself, which is taken so much for granted today, was in those days thought to contain within itself something of the enormous Creative, Preservative and Destructive force of the Cosmic Tones themselves. The very phenomenon of sound was regarded with great reverence. He who knew how to could release sacred energies through the use of audible sound, and thereby wield a mighty power. And, in fact, specific knowledge was not necessarily required, for something of the mighty energies of the Primal Vibration was believed to be released whenever and wherever audible sound was produced . According to the nature of the audible sound, so would it’s hidden effetcs be determined

I very much recommend this book
I reposted this as a quote, instead of a photo so it was more readable. I’m also tagging it for the Pagan Study Group because the nature of (musical) vibrations is a very worthwhile addition, if not essential (as I see it) to any magickal/spiritual study. Plus, it’s just fascinating!

Hi there, other path-walking students!

This post is my intro for others participating in the Pagan Study Group. Feel free to keep scrolling otherwise :-)

I go by the name Dulcea (dull-say-uh), but you can call me D. My path is a very eclectic one which is constantly changing and growing, as I discover more about myself, and the Universe.

I will try to explain the best I can.

My mother always raised me to think for myself, and I’m very grateful for that. She, herself, is agnostic but was raised (in England) as an Anglican. It is why, out of the seven of us kids (I’m the 3rd-born, first female) there are Agnostics, an Atheist, a Pantheist, Christians, and one brother says he’s Catholic now. We’re a diverse bunch!

I discovered Paganism when I was about 15, which was the same time my stepmother started forcing me to go to church and telling me that I was “going to hell.” . . which only pushed me farther away from Christianity. I started by diving into World Religion and read up on everything from Wicca, to Satanism (LaVey), to Buddhism, Hinduism, etc and though no one path felt really “right” for me, I found sanctuary in my new learnings …and thus the Eclecticism began!

Now, I am a Pantheist (still arguing in my head between monism and dualism) and study mostly Hermetics along with bits from religions and philosophies worldwide. My studies in bost eastern and western religions and philosophies ( along with Traditional Chinese Medicine, as part of my career studies, as I’m a massage therapist) has led me to see similarities and correspondences throughout all history and all religions and I have discovered many of the similarities seem to come from the teachings of Hermes (aka: Thoth or Enoch). So this is my main focus, but I’m still very eclectic.

But these studies inspire me to find balance - between light/dark, love/hate, east/west, mind/body etc etc . . as Hermetics and Eastern philosophy teach. The world and every part of it, from atoms, to people, to galaxies can be divided into yin/yang. Two seemingly opposite things or aspects that completely depend on each other for existence.

Everything you see, know, or are oblivious to is the creation of a thought, of the Infinite Living Mind - Spirit - Divinity - God - Cosmic Consciousness - whatever you call it. We are it. The Universe and all of Nature IS it. We, indeed are all one (I know this sounds more monistic but I want to divide this ONE into mental/physical because of the law of polarity and I haven’t quite figured it out yet, but who has?) It’s hard for me to put into words because I’m still drilling it in there, but I have finally found something that feels right to me.

Also, though I believe in all deities of all ancient religions I don’t see them as any more ‘divine’ than any other thing in existence (because I’m Pantheist). Since everything is of a mental creation, I see them as created by the minds of men, over centuries of constant thought and prayer (which makes them as real as anything else) and used as ways to focus your mind/spirit on certain aspects of the Universe (whatever the deity ‘reigns over’) for daily life or ritual purposes. They serve in the same way as a magicians tools and robes, to help to train your mind to focus on certain things, to remind you the state you need to be in for successful ritual, to create certain vibrations and create the change you want or need. They focus your will onto whatever’s important,to you, at the time of prayer/ritual etc. Once someone is adept enough (in my humble opinion) they will need no tools and no gods .… but I’m a long, long, long way off from that.

This is the first time I’ve really put my beliefs (or a summary thereof) onto paper and not yet outloud because it’s usually met with a wtf from the rest of the pagan/occult communities. They see my beliefs as contradictory. I see them as complimentary. If anyone has questions about my path, I’d gladly answer them, to the best of my ability. Just remember, I’m only a student, and always will be (at least for a few more lifetimes), just like you!

The human reason, whose reports we must accept so long as we think at all, informs us as follows regarding THE ALL, and that without attempting to remove the veil of the Unknowable:

1. THE ALL must be ALL that REALLY IS. There can be nothing existing outside of THE ALL, else THE ALL would not be THE ALL.

2. THE ALL must be INFINITE, for is nothing else to define, confine, bound, limit or restrict THE ALL It must be Infinite in Time, or ETERNAL,–it must have always continuously existed, for there is nothing else to have ever created it, and something can never evolve from nothing, and if it had ever “not been,” even for a moment, it would not “be” now,–it must continuously exist forever, for there is nothing to destroy it, and it can never “not-be,” even for a moment, because something can never become nothing. It must be Infinite in Space–it must be Everywhere, for there is no place outside of THE ALL–it cannot be otherwise than continuous in Space, without break, cessation, separation, or interruption, for there is nothing to break, separate, or interrupt its continuity, and nothing with which to “fill in the gaps.” It must be Infinite in Power, or Absolute, for there is nothing to limit, restrict, restrain, confine, disturb or condition it–it is subject to no other Power, for there is no other Power.

3. THE ALL must be IMMUTABLE, or not subject to change in its real nature, for there is nothing to work changes upon it; nothing into which it could change, nor from which it could have changed. It cannot be added to nor subtracted from; increased nor diminished; nor become greater or lesser in any respect whatsoever. It must have always been, and must always remain, just what it is now–THE ALL–there has never been, is not now, and never will be, anything else into which it can change.

THE ALL being Infinite, Absolute, Eternal and Unchangeable it must follow that anything finite, changeable, fleeting, and conditioned cannot be THE ALL. And as there is Nothing outside of THE ALL, in Reality, then any and all such finite things must be as Nothing in Reality. Now do not become befogged, nor frightened–we are not trying to lead you into the Christian Science field under cover of Hermetic Philosophy. There is a Reconciliation of this apparently contradictory state of affairs. Be patient, we will reach it in time

Decided that, since I’m posting things I write, maybe I should post some of my rough notes on things I read, and some other studies because I have spent a whole bunch of time filling notebooks. There are certain studies I wont post, of course, but there’s still plenty that would be fine for public sharing. This is tonight’s reading. I’ll post some notes, as I create them . .page by page. Don’t worry, you should be able to read my notes just fine. I try to keep them pretty neat most of the time :-) G’nite, for now everyone
